Lettera di David Aronson

28 May 1986, Paris

Hello Roberto,
...About the music. I like it. I think the playing is just fine.
In terms of composition, I'm not sure how I should say this, but the music sounds very much like what was being played in NYC about ten years ago on the loft scene.
I think if you listen to some of the stuff on the New York City Jazz series on Polydor you'll see what I'm talking about.
This in not a criticism, but I think it's interesting to see a young guitar player developing a long way from NYC along the same lines as what was seen as something of a logical progression by the people who were developing the music.
I don't know if you're trying to play that kind of thing intentionally as it was played with your own ideas, of course or you've fallen on the music naturally, but it's an interesting path to take.
I won't be coming to Siena this summer, for the first time since 1984, but perhaps you'll be passing through Paris in the future. If so, be sure to give ma a ring at...
If you like, send me a line and tell me what your plans are.

All the best

DAVID ARONSON
